Some of the times I was most angry with the 'good' characters of the book were when the Weasley boys mistreated Molly.

Remember that creature that just shows you your own worst fear? Here's a woman who's worst fear is seeing her children killed. She saw it every time she had to confront one of those things in the Black house. When I read the passage about her breakdown and needing help to get rid of one of those things, I felt extremely sympathetic to her. We should all hope to have a heart so big. There's no doubt everybody in the Order of the Phoenix was aware of it, including and perhaps especially the older Weasley twins.

Yet time and time again the way in which they disregarded Molly's every thought, concern, or piece of advice just utterly reduced her to nothing. Like being cared for were a burden. Seeing her very affection in and of itself, in every form no matter how passive or neutered, as a weakness to be resented. Made my stomach churn.

Shiftercat
-I remember reading that a long time ago. I agree with some of her highlights but I think she glosses over some of the flaws in all of the women and I wonder how much seems like overkill because we are not used to seeing so many women be presented in such a positive light.
My favorite is a comment about how too many girls kick ass in the book and they want weak female characters too.

I think J.K. Rowling made it a point to make all of the major women characters in the Harry Potter series powerful and strong in one way or the other. The witches had more than just magical powers. I didn't really see that with any of the wizards, except for maybe Snape. Most of the wizards were defined as strong by their magical abilities, while I think the witches were defined as strong by their intelligence and compassion as well.
